Tasmeen was a bright young woman, full of life and fervour. She had been through her education and was now on the first steps on the career ladder as a teacher. She enjoyed teaching, interacting with students and helping them develop and excel as individuals.
At home however, there was some tension, her sister was married to an abusive man who would beat her. Tasneem being outspoken and feminist at heart would openly condemn his behaviour and throw criticism over his actions. This led to the build-up of resentment and hatred by her brother-in law towards her. Eventually the antipathy led to Tasneem being attacked with acid by this man leaving her face, throat and chest burnt.
In 2008 Tasneem came to End Acid Attacks Partner, and with their help has undergone multiple corrective procedure for her eyes, nose and throat. Though she has not fully recovered her journey continues. The attack destroyed her career and now she is looking for other options. She is currently exploring opportunities in the fashion industry as an embroiderer.
