Yasmeen Nadeem, is a mother of three, her life was one of struggle and hardship. There was little income to sustain the family, with her husband refusing to provide for her and her children. She faced many years of domestic abuse, and one day decided she could no longer allow this suffering upon herself and her family. She filed for divorce and began an independent life. She began to work in the local area as a match maker which allowed her to put food on the table and provide support for her children.
She showed resilience in the face of adversity, but one fateful day as she returned home with her young son, she was confronted by her abusive ex-husband, who immediately demanded money. Upon resistance and refusal of his request, we suddenly doused Yasmeen in acid, covering her face.
The attack left both Yasmeen and her son severely injured. Yasmeen and her son came to end acid attack who have arranged for their treatments and as part of the rehabilitation process of victims, she now works as a kitchen supervisor within a Karachi based company. This has not only given Yasmeen a new lease of life but also means her children are able to go to school and have a brighter future.
